Our dogs are first and foremost our friends and family. We do not kennel our dogs, they are in the house with us (yes, it can get a little crazy on occasion). They are great with people, we have a mixture of public and private spaces on the farm, and a mixture of public and private times. They know when to go make friends and when to bark to let us know something is unusual.
They love to hunt hard and have a strong pointing instinct. They want to please and are extremely biddable. They excel in field trials but when you pick up the gun they are ready to work WITH you and FOR you. At the end of the day when they come in the house all they want is to lay by your side next to the fire. This is what our dreams are made of.
They are moderate in size, bitches 38-45 lbs and dogs 48-55 lbs. They have attractive setter coats but not so profuse that it requires 3 hours of grooming for every hour hunting.
Because of my dressage background I am acutely aware of the way a dog covers the ground. From my perspective the dogs movement MUST be attractive and light. Our dogs are athletic, fast and beautiful in their way of going.
